International Relations Model United Nations 2023

The fourth edition of the International Relations Model United Nations, the IR-MUN 2023 under the theme 'Diplomacy in an Era of Non-Traditional Security Threats', was organised by the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, School of Social Sciences of the Christ (Deemed to be) University Bangalore in collaboration with the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). Spanning two days, the IR-MUN was a national-level event which assembled over 300 delegates from all different states of India.

Report Young-IPRI Workshop “Why Conflicts Continue”

From 3 November to 5 November 2022, International Peace Research Initiative (IPRI) under Conflict Resolution and Peace Research Programme at National Institute of Advanced Studies along with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Pondicherry University organised a workshop at Pondicherry University. The theme of the workshop was “Why Conflicts Continue”. Scholars from various universities and colleges including, Manipal University, Madras University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala University and Hyderabad Central University participated in the workshop. There were 22 presentations which were divided and grouped under different themes. The themes included, gender and conflict, conflicts from Central Asia, Middle East and Europe, environment and resource conflicts, conflicts in South Asia, conflicts in Africa, conflicts in East Asia and Maritime conflicts.

The 2022 Edition of the “Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue”: Operationalising the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative

This year’s Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IRPD) was taking place from 22nd -25th November 2022, organised by the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, the Indian Navy and partnered by the India Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung was centred around the “Operationalising the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).” The IPOI was articulated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in Bangkok, at the 14th East Asia Summit (EAS) on 04 November 2019. The IPOI is a comprehensive and inclusive construct for regional cooperation that is focused on seven interconnected spokes or pillars: Maritime Security, Maritime Ecology, Maritime Resources, Disaster Risk-reduction and Management, Trade-Connectivity and Maritime Transport, Capacity-building and Resource sharing, and Science, Technology and Academic Cooperation.

As BIMSTEC marks its 25th anniversary in 2022, ICRIER and the India office of Konrad- Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in collaboration with the NITI Aayog, have initiated a webinar series titled 25 Years of BIMSTEC: Opportunities and Challenges in the post-COVID 19 Era. The objective of the dialogue series is to assess the achievements, identify areas where BIMSTEC has under- performed and consider the way forward with a focus on three interconnected themes – trade and investment, transport connectivity and trade facilitation and energy cooperation. The third webinar in the series, organized on 12th December 2022, focussed on regional connectivity and the discussion revolved around the following key themes: – Strategy for financing and implementing the Master Plan. – Fast-tracking of the governance framework through the CSA and MVA. – Trade facilitation measures for seamless connectivity across borders. – Aligning of national plans with the regional initiative.

Report Release - Media In India: Access, Practices, Concerns and Effects

Media In India: Access, Practices, Concerns and Effects is a collaborative study of Lokniti, a programme of Centre for the Study of Developing Societies and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). The report is based on a nationwide survey conducted among over 7,400 citizens earlier this year. The study is comprehensive in nature covering media in all its forms – traditional, new and evolving. It looked at people’s access to different kinds of media, their usage and consumption patterns, and their concerns and attitudes regarding critical issues such as news media coverage, media freedom, media bias, fake news, surveillance, privacy, free expression, censorship, internet shutdowns etc. Lokniti-CSDS and the India Office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, organised an event to release the report and conduct a Panel Discussion, on the 20th October 2022, at The Imperial, Janpath, Connaught Place, Delhi-110001, between 1830- 2030 (IST).
