KAS Kenia feiert Internationalen Tag der Menschen mit Behinderung

Am 03.12.2025 feierte das Team der KAS Kenia den Internationalen Tag der Menschen mit Behinderung gemeinsam mit dem Büro des Regierungssprechers Kenias und verschiedenen kenianischen Organisationen von Menschen mit Behinderung.

Empowering Young Legislators: Building Skills for Inclusive Governance

The recently concluded WYDE Political Parties workshop held on the 4th and 5th August 2025, under the theme: Amplifying Young People in Parliament: Capacity Building for Young Legislators, brought together young legislators to strengthen their capacity to engage effectively in oversight and democratic governance process.

Women Political Leaders Capacity Strengthened

On the 22nd and 23rd of July, KAS Kenya, in collaboration with the KANU Party Women’s Congress, held a two-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening the political leadership skills of female leaders within KANU. The workshop is part of the Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Political Parties project funded by the European Union and led by ENoP.

50 Jahre KAS Kenia: Rückblick und Visionen

Am 3. Mai 2023 feierte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) das 50-jährige Beststehen ihres Länderbüros in Nairobi. Als Ehrengäste nahmen Hon. Mercy Wanjau, Staatssekretärin im kenianischen Staatsministerium, Thomas Wimmer, stellvertretender Botschafter der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Kenia, und Hermann Gröhe, stellvertretender Vorsitzender der KAS, an der Veranstaltung teil. Die KAS startete ihr Engagement in Kenia im Jahre 1973 zunächst im Rahmen einer Zusammenarbeit mit der Pan-African Association of Savings and Credit Unions (ASOSCA). Seither hat sich vieles verändert. Das KAS Länderbüro arbeitet mit politischen Parteien und zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen zusammen, motiviert Frauen und junge Menschen, sich politisch zu engagieren und vermittelt Ihnen die dazu die erforderlichen Kenntnisse. Darüber hinaus bietet sie Veranstaltungen zu den Themenbereichen Ernährungssicherheit und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Kenias an und unterstützt damit die Verbesserung der Ernährungssicherheit und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung des Landes.

Food Security Governance

On the 3rd and 4th February, 2021, KAS Kenya held a workshop with Civil Society Organizations and local media from Baringo Country with the aim of improving their capacities on how best they can engage political decision makers on areas of food security. The two-day forum, enabled the participants on how to map and analyze various personalities within the county so that they can easily sell their agenda aimed at improving livelihoods. The team resolved to undertake a process that will see the county recruit more agricultural and livestock extension officers to help farmers in both crop and livestock production and management.

KAS & KICTANet Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Digital Cooperation

On the 3rd and 4th October, KAS Kenya in partnership with KICTANet held a workshop on 'multi-stakeholder dialogue on digital cooperation'. Food Security and Disaster Management monitoring through empowered local structures

KAS Kenya held an ASAL Stakeholders Forum (ASF) for capacity development from 16th -17th May 2019, in West Pokot. The focus of the forum was on political lobbying on food safety through disaster risk reduction. The aim was to assess the political trends and existing barriers to conducting food security advocacy campaigns in the region by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Food insecurity was established as one of the leading disasters facing the County, hence a need to cascade it in the political and policy formulation discourse for better management

Lessons learned from German History –An evening with Konrad Adenauer’s grandson

KAS, Nairobi held a discussion forum on the 3rd of June, 2019, with young Kenyan Politicians to discuss the post-war German political developments, and the lessons Kenya can draw from the same. The event was graced by Dr. Stephan Werhahn, a grandson to Konrad Adenauer and Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) Board Member for International Relations. From the discussion, it was noted that Germany had gone through a difficult political and economic watershed, especially during the Nazi-dictatorship (1933-1945). Some of the major gains that Germany realized were during the tenure of Konrad Adenauer as Chancellor (1949-1963)

Strengthening the role of CSOs through COFs to ensure controls & accountability

KAS Kenya in collaboration with its implementing partner MAPACA organized a training forum in Makueni County on 25th June 2019 aimed at empowering citizen oversight forums (COFs) to play their oversight role effectively in the budget making process, information gathering and dissemination. The forum themed “Strengthening the role of CSOs through COFs to ensure controls & accountability” brought together members of citizen oversight forums, civil society and county officials for the one-day event.

Basic Training of the Public Expenditure Tool on Social Accountability

On the 29th and 30th of May, 2019, KAS held a training at the Everest House Hotel in Kisumu on the public expenditure tool (PET) and with extension, on social accountability to help build the capacity of the social auditors on public expenditure tools. The aim of the training was to improve on the present quality of public service delivery in Siaya, Vihiga and Kisumu Counties. This training was deemed necessary since counties have been accused of poor financial management and service delivery. During the training, participants were taken through the broader concept behind social accountability and tools such as community report cards, community score cards, budget analysis, social accountability, and public expenditure tracking were shared with the participants.
