The Africa Facts Summit is back! Following the success of last year's event, KAS Media Africa is once again supporting the Africa Facts Summit on 1st and 2nd October 2025. This will be the first time for the two-day summit to be hosted in a French-speaking country. It will bring together fact-checking organisations and information integrity experts from across the continent to address the growing challenges of disinformation and fake news in Africa.
Key topics for discussion include the sustainability of fact-checking in Africa, its role in addressing climate change disinformation, the impact of AI in conflict zones and the development of region-specific solutions. During the breakout sessions, delegates will explore Google's latest AI-powered content detection tool and discuss community-driven health fact-checking.
And on top of that: There will be an exhibition called 'Cartooning for Africa Facts' running on both event days. Press cartoonists will bring the debates to life through live drawing.
The Africa Facts network, which has grown significantly since its inception in 2017, will lead discussions on enhancing digital literacy and fostering collaboration to safeguard the integrity of democratic processes.
The Media Programme Sub-Saharan Africa will support the participation of ten South African journalists.
