From 17 August to 2 September 2026, the KAS Media Programme Sub-Saharan Africa will host its Fact-Checking Fellowship Programme in Dakar, Senegal.
This intensive fellowship brings together emerging fact-checkers, journalists, and media professionals from across the continent to strengthen their capacity to identify, verify, and counter misinformation and disinformation in an increasingly complex information environment.
Participants will engage in a comprehensive programme combining practical training, expert-led workshops, and collaborative exercises. The fellowship will focus on key areas such as verification techniques, digital tools for fact-checking, investigative approaches, and ethical standards in fact-based journalism.
By connecting participants with experienced practitioners and regional peers, the programme aims to foster a strong network of fact-checking professionals committed to promoting accuracy, accountability, and public trust in media across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Hosted in Dakar, a vibrant hub for media and democratic discourse, the fellowship also provides a valuable platform for exchange on the specific challenges and opportunities faced by fact-checkers in the African context.
