At the end of this first year that allowed us to be fully operational as a new Office in Ethiopia, we see a promising result.
Together with our partners, we:
- organized 35 events
- reached more than 1,000 participants
- implemented a budget 20 % higher than initially planned due to high demand from our stakeholders
- conducted five studies on the Rule of Law in Ethiopia
- and another one on Ethiopia's efforts to privatize its economy
- filled an important gap in academic research with our KAS Guide to African Cabinets & Elections
- published frequent newsletters with information about the developments at the AU and our work in Ethiopia in three languages
- reviewed more than 3,800 applications for our local scholarship program
- admitted 35 students; sent 1 to Germany
- brought many people together
- pushed for better political dialogue between Africa and Europe on both sides after much glass was broken following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
- and did a lot more
We thank our amazing partners, who are only a handful, our supporters and collaborators, our magnificent local staff of five, who we are lucky to have, and last but not least the German taxpayers who allow us to do this important work as a political foundation in Ethiopia and at the AU.
We look forward to continuing our work in 2023 and to doing a lot more!
