The auditorium named after Chancellor Konrad Adenauer at the Faculty of History and Philology hosted the International Conference on Authoritarianism on May 5–6, bringing together scholars from Eastern Europe and beyond, in a comparative approach to their shared totalitarian past.
May 5th in Albania marks a day of remembrance for the martyrs who gave their lives during World War II, but it can also serve as a day of reflection on the consequences of the totalitarian regime that followed.
This conference is part of a long-standing and fruitful collaboration with the Department of History at the University of Tirana, in our joint effort to promote critical discussion and raise awareness about the past.
We thank all participants for their valuable contributions and expertise during these two days.
