The aim of this training was to give the younger generation the opportunity to gain knowledge on political and social issues in Albania and on the process of integration in the European Union. Around 23 young participants took part in the event.

Before travelling, rapid COVID-19 tests were conducted to ensure the safety of all participants. On Saturday, the first day, participants got to know each other and the structure of the training, where a few welcoming words were said and they were then introduced to the app “My Europe”.

On the second day seminars were held from experts on topics such as European Union and EU integration of Albania: Challenges and perspectives, UK: the “sui generis” path to EU and Brexit, Justice reform as a condition for integration into the European Union and Media freedom in Albania: perspectives. Afterwards, the students worked in groups and discussed and reflected on the subjects.

On the third day, the main topic was about human rights, where experts from the law and human rights field talked about the role of the Ombudsman on the protection of human rights, vulnerable groups and feminism. Afterwards, the students worked in groups, in which they drafted aspects and improvement suggestions concerning laws on various vulnerable groups.

On Tuesday, the fourth day, two seminars were held in the morning about the irregular immigration of Albanian citizens to the EU and how the road towards integration can improve the political and social situation in Albania even more than the actual destination.

In the end, students evaluated the training and handed the certificates of participation to each other. They expressed their appreciation towards each other and the time they spent together, as well as their contentment about the topics discussed during the four days and the new insights they gained throughout their participation.
