Dieter Althaus, former Minister-President of the German state of Thuringia and Member of the Board of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, visited Albania this week at the invitation of the KAS Office in Tirana.
During his visit, he met with the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Bajram Begaj, where discussions focused on strengthening economic relations between Albania and Germany, as well as the progress of Albania’s accession negotiations with the European Union.
President Begaj wrote in a post on X:
“It was a pleasure to meet with the German representatives of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Mr Dieter Althaus and Mr Thomas Kunze.
I expressed my gratitude for Germany’s continued support for Albania’s EU accession process, as well as for the important role the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is playing in our country by supporting reforms aimed at strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and democratic institutions.”
Mr Althaus also met with the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Prof. Dr Sali Berisha. The discussions focused on the current political situation in the country, German-Albanian economic cooperation, as well as the European integration process.
