Together with young people from Tirana, Durrës and Kuçova, we discussed in a series of activities, in collaboration with the United Rights Foundation, how art and cultural heritage were used in Albanian political discourse during the years of transition.
In Durrës and Kuçova, the young participants dealt with collective memory and the artistic legacy of the communist era in seminars. The role of art in reflecting ideology and its influence on the cultural transition of society were discussed. In Tirana, on the other hand, a symposium dealt with the relationship between art and politics, with a special focus on art's ability to reflect, question and actively influence political reality.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation supports the holding of such meetings as part of its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law and consolidating democratic standards.
