On Wednesday, April 9, KAS, in cooperation with the United Rights Foundation, presents the premiere of "Gladius - The special (non) trial", a documentary about the 1945 Special Trial, directed by Viron Roboçi.
About the Documentary:
The Special Trial for War Criminals and Enemies of the People was a communist court held in the spring of 1945 in the newly established Socialist Republic of Albania. A show trial, conducted in a cinema hall, lasting 44 days—from March 1 to April 13, 1945—aimed at eliminating political opponents.
The sentences were predetermined, based on false testimonies and fabricated evidence. The goal? The destruction of intellectuals and the elimination of political opponents. The outcome: 17 executions, 60 convictions, and a total of 715 years in prison.
