The Riga Conference 2026 will take place on September 10–11, 2026, in Riga, once again bringing together leading experts from politics, defense, academia, media, and business. Since its founding in 2006, the conference has established itself as one of the most important platforms for transatlantic dialogue in Northern and Eastern Europe.
Against the backdrop of a tense international security environment, this year’s conference will address key issues in defense and security policy, the future development of alliances, and current challenges in foreign policy and diplomacy. Both global trends and concrete developments within alliance systems will be analyzed.
A special focus will be placed on three thematic areas:
In the field of Defence, current developments in security and defense policy will be assessed in the context of global dynamics and the situation in Europe.
The Development track will explore possible future scenarios for international alliances and discuss factors that may accelerate or hinder their evolution.
Under Foreign Policy, international events, diplomatic processes, and geopolitical tensions will be examined from a foreign policy perspective.
The conference will be held in a hybrid format: while a limited number of participants will gather on-site in Riga, online participation will allow a broader audience to actively engage in the discussions. This format ensures both flexibility and the widest possible reach of the debates. The Riga Conference 2026 thus once again provides a key platform for exchanging views on security policy challenges and the future of international cooperation in an increasingly complex global order.
