GPAAAC Event

Inaugural meeting of The Global Parliamentary Alliance Against Atrocity Crimes

About this event

On Tuesday 19 July 2022, the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies is hosting the inaugural meeting of The Global Parliamentary Alliance Against Atrocity Crimes (GPAAAC), a project created by MIGS in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Canada. GPAAAC’s goal is to form an international network of experts to explore how parliamentarians can better prevent and respond to mass atrocity crimes while defending and strengthening democracy and the liberal order.

This first meeting will bring together a minimum of 30 civil society experts and parliamentarians from the European Union, Germany and Canada to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the current thinking on atrocity prevention approaches. We will have a combination of five experts and MPS to give testimonies and begin the meeting.
