The event addressed the implications of the new U.S. tariffs and the need to strengthen economic cooperation between North America and Europe.

The webinar addressed the implications of the new US tariffs and the need to strengthen economic cooperation between North America and Europe. Faced with the threat of new US tariffs on its trading partners Mexico and Canada, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of both countries organized a virtual strategic dialogue with two high-level experts. The meeting not only analyzed the economic and political effects of these measures but also highlighted the urgency of diversifying international alliances. Through critical reflections on regional integration, protectionism, and the role of the European Union, the event put forward concrete proposals to transform uncertainty into opportunities for cooperation and shared development.

April Roundtable Leaders Dialogue on Environmental Security, Military Leadership and Climate Risks.

On 30 April 2025, KAS Canada hosted its April Roundtable Leaders Dialogue on Environmental Security, Military Leadership and Climate Risks , at Chateau Laurier, Ottawa. We had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Eva Cohen from Civil Protection Youth Canada, Mr. Dale Beugin from Canadian Climate Institute / Institut climatique du Canada I and Col. Derek J. Lay from Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes. Interesting facts, risks and solutions were discussion in terms of climate risks, operational capacity and reaction of civil society for physical protection and service. Among the topics discussed, the recent power outage/blackout in Spain and Portugal, future voluntary cooperation for environmental risks between Canada and Germany, and infrastructure captured the audience.
