One of EKLA´s working areas is climate governance at local level. It is undeniable that there is no effective climate solution without the participation of cities. Hence, the KAS supports this study, organized in cooperation with our partner WayCarbon, aiming to provide information for policymakers in Latin America on the successful adaptation strategies of the city of Belo Horizonte. We believe that because of the similar challenges faced by cities in the region, the solutions can be replicated. We thank WayCarbon for the partnership in the composition of this document and
the Municipality of Belo Horizonte, Brazil for the fruitful collaboration with KAS on numerous projects.
Among the 35 finalists competing in ten urban climate action categories for the fourth-annual C40 Cities Awards, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and BYD, this study is competing with New York and Paris in the category Adaptation Plans and Assessments. More information here.
