Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Greece once again came to Thessaloniki in order to discuss the topic of Social Market Economy. The discussion was co-organized with the South East European Research Centre (SEERC) in Thessaloniki. Professor Dr. Thomas Apolte, Professor for Political Economy at the University of Münster, and Dr. Pavlos Gkasis, Lecturer in Economics at the South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) presented their view and research on how political and economic freedom can help or hinder democracy. Furthermore, they focused in the ways democracy can be supported and promoted through the model of the Social Market Economy. A lively discussion followed the presentations, aiming to clarify the notion of democracy and the interplay of econocmics and politics in the European Union.
