Partnership Corfu – Vorpommern-Rügen - Foundation Office Greece and Cyprus

With support of KAS Athens, representatives of local politics and experts from Vorpommern-Rügen visited Corfu in mid-November 2012. The aim of their stay was the dialogue on specific issues of local politics. Topics of the joint workshop included waste management and recycling as well as on water management. In addition to this, experts presented new opportunities in regrd to tourism and the development of regional food brands.
The partnership between both islands has been established under the framework of the Greek German Assembly in September 2012. Through dialogues of Greek and German experts, the exchange of knowledge between the municipalities shall be promoted.
The partnership will be fostered by mutual consultation missions and information exchange on topics of particular relevance for the regional economic development as well as the administrative reform.
