For the conference, KAS Athens has organised a workshop on local government management.

Strategic management gains more and more attention in a future-oriented local government. Processes of change require a stronger orientation towards results, customers and the own employees. There is an increasing demand of concrete results – in particular under the condition of reduced financial resources. Strategies of local government management will be presented and discussed by experts and practitioners on the topic in the framework of the round-table. Professor Hill of the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer will give an introduction on instruments and tools of local government management. Yiannis Boutaris, Mayor of Thessaloniki, and Kostas Bakoyannis, Mayor of Karpenissi, will present their perspectives on local government and its management.
