UKIP eindeutiger Sieger bei der Wahl zum Europäischen Parlament

Bei den Wahlen zum Europäischen Parlament hat die europakritische und rechtspopulistische UKIP einen klaren Wahlsieg erringen können. Die oppositionelle Labour Partei schnitt schlechter als erwartet ab und landete auf dem zweiten Platz. Knapp dahinter landeten die regierenden Konservativen auf dem dritten Platz. Die auf nationaler Ebene sonst unbedeutenden Grünen konnten mit dem vierten Platz einen Achtungserfolg erringen, während die LibDems als regierender Koalitionspartner ein Desaster erlebten und nur noch einen Europaabgeordneten (von vormals elf) behaupten konnten.

In 2013, the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS)together with the German National Academy of Science and Engineering(ACATECH) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in London hosted aseries of round-table discussions at King’s College London. After the successfulcooperation and organisation of energy talks in 2012 by EUCERS and KAS,the second series - now with partner ACATECH - was to promote innovativeand creative thinking around the issue of energy resilience. This led to thearranging of five probing round-tables on the topic.

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS) at the Department of War Studies, King's College London support a young fellow each year with an innovative research proposal on energy security. For this purpose the Fellow has the opportunity to spend two semesters at King’s College London, one of England’s oldest and most prestigious universities to conduct research on a given topic, jointly decided by EUCERS and KAS.
