“Europe: Where is the Passion?" - Foundation Office United Kingdom and Ireland

The Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and former President of the European Parliament, Dr Hans-Gert Pöttering MEP, will travel to London on 5 and 6 May in order to gain insight on the political situation in the United Kingdom. On the eve of the 5th of May he will give a lecture at the London School of Economics with the title “Europe: Where is the Passion?” in which he will address the necessity of European success as well as the participation of the UK to ensure this aim.
The journey to London is his first as Chairman of the Foundation in the UK. The meetings and the lecture coincide with the referendum on the electoral reform and important municipal elections. In order to gain a more in depth knowledge on the political situation on location Hans-Gert Pöttering will amongst others meet the Lord Chancellor and State Secretary of State for Justice, the Right Honourable Kenneth Clarke QC MP. Important for Dr Pöttering are also his meetings with representatives from think tanks and academics from Oxford, Cambridge and Bath with whom he will meet during a luncheon discussion.
