Details

Many countries which are already engaged in bilateral security cooperation with Japan or considered (“like-minded”) partners for an intensified dialogue with Japan in various fields of international security are located in Europe. Japanese interest in the European multilateral security architecture has therefore steadily increased during the past few years. The EU and NATO are perceived as the frameworks for a closer Japan-Europe security cooperation. During the event, we analyzed and discussed the future role of Europe with regard to international maritime security and the fight against terrorism as well as NATO’s approach for collaboration with partners across the globe.
