How Asia is reopening amidst COVID-19

Some Asian countries are beginning to ease lock downs and cautiously reopening economies amidst the threat of case resurgence.

Key messages in this update include:

1. Countries with low infection rates and death tolls such as Thailand and Vietnam are reopening both essential and non-essential businesses.

2. However, renewed restrictions are put in place in South Korea and China as cases spiked after an initial relaxation of social distancing requirements.

3. The emergence of Asian countries from lockdowns bring lessons on the risks of opening too soon as well as the possibilities of containing domestic outbreaks.
