Roundtable Discussion with the BAKS
The KAS Japan welcomed the participants of the second "Course for Senior Officials 2016" organized by the Federal Academy for Security Policy in Tokyo. The delegation was introduced to current socio-political trends and demographic challenges in Japan. Keynote speakers were Prof. Keiko Hirao (Sophia University) and Markus Dressel (Henkel Japan). Former German Ambassador Dr. Volker Stanzel opened the discussion. After their visit to Japan the delegation continued their programme in China.
The second Course for Senior Officials 2016 organized by the BAKS (Federal Academy for Security Policy) stopped over in Tokyo where the KAS office invited the Course participants to a roundtable discussion.

As the interim head of the Tokyo office Mr Stefan Samse officially welcomed the BAKS delegation in Japan.

Former German Ambassador to Japan Dr. Volker Stanzel opened the meeting with a brief introduction about socio-political aspects of contemporary Japan.

Prof. Keiko Hirao gave a presentation on current shifting demographic trends in Japan and their implications on both the Japanese society model as well as economy.

Mr Markus Dressel of Henkel Japan introduced the German delegation of senior officials to the unique Japanese work and company culture.

During a Q&A session the German BAKS delegation had the chance to find out in more depth about aspects of the interconnection of changing demographics, economical challenges and work culture.
