Today, children of the world have a stronger position than before. Children have the right to express their opinions and influence decisions that affect them. The school child as a learner has the right to be involved in issues that concerns his/her life here, now and in the future. How can we work for a better future, individually and collectively, with and for all children? How can we work together to develop cultural identities within a social and ecological "everyday life"- context? How can we support culture focusing on a democratic and sustainable society? Along with drugs and alcohol, crime, and body image, one of the issues which concerns the most developed countries world-wide is the environment. While despite many actions taken by different stakeholders, the environmental issues are yet not a priority of Kosovo’s central and local governance.
In addition, the views and interests of children and young people are not being adequately considered in crucial policy decisions that will ultimately shape their future. Hence, the World Environmental Day (June 5th, 2015) is the opportunity for everyone to realize the responsibility to care for the Earth and to become agents of change.
