The conference was opened by Prof. Jurica Pavičić, PhD, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-Institutional Cooperation at the University of Zagreb, and addressed by Dr. Christian Hellbach, the German Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia. The conference discussed the challenges and opportunities of migration and remigration, as well as the economic, political, and social consequences they can have on both the country of origin and the destination country. In the first practical part of the conference, speakers from various fields such as public administration, politics, science, education, and business exchanged their experiences and compared living and working conditions in Germany and Croatia. The second scientific part of the conference focused on the motives for migration and remigration between Germany and Croatia, as well as transnational contexts and changes in cultural identities and values. On the second day of the conference, discussions took place regarding the economic, political, and social impacts on both the country of origin and the destination country, as well as the possibilities and challenges of remigration and integration in the country of origin. The aim of the conference was to encourage in-depth consideration and research on migration and remigration, as well as to promote the exchange of ideas between returnees and scientists.
