From June 18–20, 2025, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Office in the Republic of Moldova, organized an introductory seminar for its Sur-Place scholarship holders under the title “Understanding Democracy – Political Parties and Ideologies, Christian Democratic Values, and the Mission of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.” The aim of the seminar was to contribute to the civic and political education of young leaders, in line with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s mission to promote democratic values.
Over three days, the KAS Sur-Place scholars from Republic of Moldova participated in an intensive training program that included sessions on democratic structures, political ideologies, populism, Germany’s recent history, and the global mission of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The seminar featured lectures, interactive discussions, and case studies, offering a space for critical reflection and political literacy.
Participants gained essential knowledge about the core values of democracy, political systems, and the role of democratic actors and ideologies in modern governance, developing a deeper understanding of contemporary political processes. The event strengthened the KAS Sur-Place community and provided a framework for critical thinking and open dialogue about the future of democracy in the Republic of Moldova and the wider region.
