The roundtable dialogue aims at bringing together key personnel of security agencies and leaders / opinion leaders of civil society to take in-depth review of issues that bother on the relationship between citizens and security agencies. With the increasing political tensions and the multi-dimensional nature of crime in Kwara State, the platform is designed to foster productive dialogue by outlining the issues, examining causes of the frictions, and proffering solutions to deescalate tensions, prevent and curb crime. Considering the lingering political tensions in the state and its position as the border between Northern and Western regions of Nigeria, incidents have attributes relating to inter-state / cross-border crimes. Therefore, it becomes imperative to provide interventions that would promote cooperation, synergy, and understanding between security agencies and citizens. The meeting is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria by engendering a conducive environment for productive dialogue, information and experience sharing between security agencies and citizens, in order to increase trust and confidence of Nigerian citizens in the security agencies, even as security agencies are enabled to imbibe the tenets of respect for rights of citizens and adhere to the rules of engagement.
