On March 2, 2011, a German Economic Council Delegation (Regional group Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) was visiting KAS Ramallah during their week-long excursion to Israel and the Palestinian Territories. After the visit of the “Qalandiya” checkpoint, accompanied by the Resident Representative to the Palestinian Territories, Felix Dane, the delegation was invited to the KAS Office. There Mr. Dane explained the important work of the foundation during the last couple of years und answered the questions of the delegates. Following that, Dr. Hanna Siniora from the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information (IPCRI) talked about several projects related to the use of renewable energy in the Palestinian Territories.
After the lunch, the group met with the Deputy Head of the Mission, Jesper Friedrichsen, and the Press Officer, Julio De La Guardia, at the headquarters of the EU Police Mission EUPOL COPPS in Ramallah. The delegates were informed about security matters and the role of the EU Mandate.
At the end of their trip to the Palestinian Territories, the Delegation visited the pharmaceutical company “Pharmacare.” There, they were welcomed to a discussion with the CEO and former Minister of Economy, Dr. Bassim S. Khoury. Afterwards they got the opportunity to visit the factory site.
