10 Years after the Arab Uprisings: Where does Public Opinion in the Region Stand Today?

KAS PolDiMed Survey Launch

The Regional Program Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung is pleased to present the large-scale KAS PolDiMed Survey, conducted by Arab Research & Analytics Associates, examining the views of the Arab public a decade after the Arab uprisings. We surveyed over 10,000 citizens from six Mediterranean countries, namely Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia, about their views, opinions and attitudes in the midst of a global pandemic.

Arab uprisings Online Seminar

A decade after the Arab uprisings, the region has experienced vast changes. Despite some political reforms after 2011, discontent remains high across the region with large-scale protests breaking out in 2019 in a number of countries across the region. Long-term weak economic growth has been exacerbated by the outbreak of COVID, placing significant stress on national economies and public services such as health and education.

Amidst these challenges, the 2020 Survey of the Regional Program Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS PolDiMed), conducted by Arab Research and Analytics Associates (ARAA), reveals a changing and divided region.  The surveys included a total of 10,841 respondents in the following six countries: Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia.

This online seminar and survey launch will not only present the main findings of the KAS PolDiMed 2020 Survey, but also critically discuss and contextualize the results with outstanding experts on the region. The KAS PolDiMed 2020 Survey will be distributed in text form in the first months of the new year and presented at different locations and occasions throughout 2021.
