Local COY Rabat

In partnership with the Green Universities for sustainability club of the prestigious UM6P Rabat University, KAS-REMENA participated in the organisation of the Local COY conference, an event organised under the auspices of YOUNGO, the official youth body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is a national version of the International Youth Conference (IYC), which takes place immediately before the Conference of the Parties (COP), the annual UN climate conference.

The aim of the conference is to train and empower young people for climate action. It focused on climate-related topics that are of great importance at national level. The participants also discussed the outcomes that will be integrated into the global COY and consequently into the climate negotiations through rich exchanges on best practices to stimulate youth engagement in the country and networking opportunities for young students to make their voices heard. 

This event offered a space to stimulate youth climate action at the local level through reflection on the contribution to the international conference. It brought together young people from all over Morocco to compile national contributions in the position of global youth to be integrated into the climate negotiations. This will translate into a call to action for the youth conference while highlighting the youth-led climate across Morocco. The conference will conclude with the development of a youth policy paper and declaration to be presented at the next COY in Egypt.
