Case study Methodology is an important tool for law implementation. It leads to comprehensible results that closely follows the intent and purpose of the legislation and thus promotes a certain degree of legal transparency and certainty. The German case study methodology training that is offered to German students on their under graduation is a useful technique for not just the continental legal system, but also for all codified statutes and legal systems.
It is based on this premise that Head of the Rule of Law Programme Asia, Marc Spitzkatz conducted a three-day training for students of the Royal Academy of Judicial Professions (RAJP) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Using 15 different exercises on basic Cambodian contractual law, the module focused on understanding the subsumption method of legal interpretation and case-writing, aimed at assisting trainee judges develop a basic framework for future adjudication.
