Based on nine focus group discussions with voters who supported both Nicușor Dan and George Simion in the 2025 presidential runoff election, the study captures the perspectives, concerns, and expectations of Romanians living in Austria, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain. Beyond voting preferences, the study provides fundamental insights into why Romanians emigrate, how they perceive their home country, and what they expect from political leaders. The findings highlight a critical disconnect between the concerns of the diaspora - ranging from health and education reforms to economic opportunities and government corruption - and the responses of Romania's current governing coalition, raising important questions about representation and national identity in an increasingly divided society.
