Together with the “Istoria din casă-n casă” Cultural Association, we organized a workshop for history teachers in Romania on methods they can use to combat communist nostalgia and sympathies for the far right among middle and high school students.
We discussed teaching and learning methods adapted to the technological reality of 2026, risk factors and how radical ideologies spread through social media, as well as how teachers can counter these ideas in the classroom through open discussions with students.
The teachers came from diverse backgrounds, both rural and urban, and included middle and high school teachers who teach history, as well as courses on Jewish history and the Holocaust.
The trainers were lecturers, associate professors, and university professors from the universities of Bucharest, Cluj, and Oradea.
