Study and Dialogue Program on Migration and Integration

Experts from South Africa visit Germany

Both South Africa and Germany are destination countries for migration. This study visit for experts from South Africa aims at an exchange of experiences and a comparison of the various approaches towards migration and integration.


The program comprises various expert talks and visits of the following institutions:

  • Central Arrival Center for Asylum-seekers in Bavaria (Zirndorf)
  • Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Nürnberg)
  • Federal Ministry of the Interior
  • Mr. Roman Kofmann, Integration expert Jobcenter Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
  • City Parliament of Berlin: Meeting with Ms. Cornelia Seibeld, MP (Deputy Speaker of the City Parliament of Berlin, Deputy Chairwoman of the CDU, Parliamentary Group and Spokeswoman for Integration Policy)
  • Expert Council of German Foundations on Integration and Migration (SVR) GmbH
  • DIHK Service GmbH (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce): Presentation and discussion of the project 'NETWORK Companies integrate refugees'
  • City District Office Neukölln in Berlin: Meeting with Mr. Arnold Mengelkoch (Integration officer) and Ms. Maria Macher (Coordinator of the integrational project: 'Borough Mothers')
  • Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung: Meeting with Dr. Christina Krause, Coordinator Refugees and Migration, Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation
  • Visit of an emergency shelter for refugees in Berlin-Neukölln
  • Federal Chancellery: Meeting with Honey Deihimi, LL.M.(Head of Department, Department for Social Integration, Task Force of the Federal Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration)
  • Meeting with representatives of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung: Mr. Frank Priess, Deputy Director of the Main Department European and International Cooperation; Ms. Andrea Ostheimer, Head of Team Africa; Ms. Miriam Fischer, Desk officer Team Africa
