Details

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in cooperation with the Interparty Youth Platform (IYOP) will hold the first ever National Interparty Youth Conference 27th – 30th June, 2013 at Essella Country Hotel near the national capital, Kampala. This event is supported by the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF).

The Conference will bring together 100 youth leaders from the seven major political parties of Uganda, namely (in alphabetical order): the Conservative Party (CP), Democratic Party (DP), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Justice Forum (JEEMA), National Resistance Movement (NRM), People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC). It will also include representatives of civil society, the National Youth Council and academics. The conference aims to offer a forum for young leaders to discuss the development challenges they face and to suggest solutions. It will address three thematic areas: youth and political participation, youth and economic empowerment, and youth and social services.

The expected output is a conference communiqué which will include a series of recommendations targeted to different stakeholders. The communication will be the basis of future actions by Uganda’s political youth as they move to take a centre stage in championing the mainstream development interests of the Youth.
