For several years now, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) has been giving out scholarships to outstanding and politically active students of the Uganda Martyr's University (UMU) in the courses'Good Governance and Human Rights' and 'Democracy and Local Government'. On October 24th, the new students from Uganda were welcomed to the programme during the annual scholarship meeting.
The occasion was marked by presentations on the promotion of good governance and human rights in Uganda given by Dr. Maximiano Ngabirano, Head of Department of Good Governance and Peace Studies at UMU, and Dr. Jude Ssebuwufu, Director of University Advancement. After inputs from current and former scholarship holders on their experiences with the programme, the participants had the opportunity to connect and network with other alumni as well as representatives from KAS and UMU. Furthermore, this year's scholarship meeting saw the launch of a tracer study by the Department of Good Governance and Peace Studies aimed to track and evaluate the impact of the programme since its inception. For the scholarship holders in South Sudan, a similar meeting will be held in Juba in November to officially welcome the new entrants into the programme and provide an occasion for personal exchange.
