The Conference is organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Cooperation with the LéO Africa Forum and will take place on 15th September 2015. It will be the fourth KAS conference which focuses on oil and gas in Uganda.

Details

The conference will focus attention on exploring opportunities around the emerging extractives industry in East Africa, with a focus on key sectors including oil & gas, mining, and infrastructure investment necessary in facilitating a production economy around the industry. The meeting will facilitate a constructive dialogue with stakeholders to share insight into intelligence and knowledge on how to leverage the industry in creating economic opportunities for the private sector, build skills and create jobs and in general build on the resources to grow inclusive economies.

The main aspects to be discussed shall be how extractive industries have to be regulated so that other sectors, such as tourism and agriculture, are not endangered by them, as well as what opportunities extractive industries offer for other sectors to develop.
