The aim of the workshops was to evaluate the grassroots trainings which the participants conducted in the previous two months in several sub-countries of their home districts. Before the participants carried out the trainings they participated in a workshop on democratic governance and accountability in which they were also trained in facilitation skills. Afterwards they were sent to the grassroots level to conduct civil education with the help of a toolkit which was given to them by KAS and ACFODE. In the review workshop they now got the opportunity to share their experiences in the different districts, talk about the challenges they faced and evaluate the implementation and effects of their conducted trainings. The participants were all highly motivated during the review workshop and shared the experiences of their work in group presentations of each district. During those presentations and in further discussions they all emphasized the need for further grassroots trainings in the field of civil education.
Since the timeframe for the EU-supported project is limited another objective of the workshop was to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills on how to organize future civil education without support under the ongoing project. The participants all highlighted that it was now the responsibility of the local CSOs to implement further trainings. To support them with the transformation process the participants were given advice on planning projects, networking, resource mobilization and sustainability. Those skills are supposed to strengthen the NGOs financially and with regards to their project design and enable them to implement future civil education trainings with the overall objective of promoting good governance and accountability.
