Have you ever wondered how we react to military conflicts on another continent? Does the war affect us if it takes place thousands of kilometers away? How much do we feel it on our own skin when, in one part of the world, one country tries to destroy another for its own enrichment? What should and can a person on one continent know about armed aggression on another?
The study "African Media Reporting on the Russia Ukraine War", developed by Senegalese journalist Sambo Dialimpa Badji and South African political scientist Zafesheya Dlamini with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Media Programme Sub-Saharan Africa in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation Office Ethiopia / African Union), analyzes how Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine is covered in African media. The authors focus on a comparison between English-speaking and French-speaking countries on the continent, paying particular attention to the tone, themes, and narratives that dominate the coverage of the events.
