On the 21st and 22nd of October 2026, fact-checkers, journalists, researchers, technology experts and civil-society representatives from across Africa and beyond will gather in Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa Facts Summit 2026. The event is supported by KAS Media Africa.
Under the theme “Information Integrity in an Ever-Evolving Landscape: AI, Agency and Influence in Africa,” the two-day summit will examine how emerging technologies, political influence and changing patterns of disinformation are reshaping Africa’s information ecosystem.
Throughout the summit, participants will discuss platform accountability in African languages, information manipulation, foreign influence, political micro-targeting, gendered disinformation and the effects of false information on health, science and the environment. Sessions will also examine the role of artificial intelligence in copyright, democratic integrity, scams and wartime verification.
Practical breakout sessions will introduce tools and methods for open-source investigations, social listening, synthetic-media tracking, data-driven journalism and coordinated-disinformation mapping. Participants will also explore how smaller newsrooms and fact-checking organisations can develop verification tools without large budgets or specialised engineering teams.
By bringing together specialists from different countries, languages and professional backgrounds, the Africa Facts Summit creates an important platform for sharing knowledge, strengthening cooperation and developing practical responses to misinformation and disinformation across the continent.
