The African Journalism Education Network (AJEN) will host its 2026 Round Table from 12–14 August 2026 in Mauritius, bringing together journalism educators, media practitioners and researchers from across Africa and beyond.
Under the theme “Reimagining African journalism education in a time of technological disruptions and possibilities,” the meeting will explore how rapid technological change – including artificial intelligence – is reshaping journalism, media education and democratic practice on the continent.
The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops and training sessions, as well as the AJEN Annual General Meeting. The Round Table is co‑hosted by the Media Trust of Mauritius and the University of Mauritius, with support from KAS Media Africa and FOJO Media Institute.
The programme also includes the Adenauer Media Lecture, delivered by Prof. Dr. Claudia Nothelle (Magdeburg‑Stendal University of Applied Sciences, Germany). Organised by KAS Media Africa, the lecture series offers a space for dialogue on current challenges facing journalism, media freedom and democratic communication, and complements the Round Table’s broader discussions on journalism education in Africa.
