The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s Regional Media Programme Sub‑Saharan Africa is pleased to participate in the 17th General Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), taking place 15–17 April 2026 in Banjul, The Gambia.
The event coincides with the AUB’s 20th anniversary and will be held under the theme “AUB, 20 Years Serving African Media: Heritage, Innovation and Transformation.” It will gather media executives, industry leaders, government officials, academics, and content creators from across Africa to examine key issues shaping the future of broadcasting, including innovation, technological transformation, funding challenges, and the high cost of sports broadcasting rights.
As Africa’s largest broadcasting organisation, with 85 member broadcasters, the AUB provides an important continental platform at a time when changing audience habits and rapid technological shifts are transforming the media landscape.
To contribute to this strategic dialogue, KAS Media Africa will support the event by bringing delegates from Europe, strengthening collaboration between African and European media stakeholders. This forms part of our broader mission to advance media freedom, professional capacity, and resilient public‑service media systems across Sub‑Saharan Africa.
We look forward to supporting the conversations in Banjul and working together to strengthen innovation, independence, and sustainable development within African broadcasting.
