From 25th to 31st of October 2026, KAS Media Africa will host a Foreign Policy Reporting Masterclass at the Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Berlin, Germany.
The five days will equip African journalists with practical skills for analyzing international relations, questioning institutions and reporting on complex foreign policy issues from an African perspective. Participants will explore Africa’s role in the international system and examine relations with other countries or regions, including Germany, the European Union, China and Russia.
Sessions will also address climate diplomacy, peace and security, disinformation in foreign policy narratives, diplomatic access and the development of reliable source networks. Through expert discussions, workshops, institutional visits and practical exercises, participants will learn how to identify hidden assumptions, challenge official narratives and ask questions that move beyond prepared talking points.
The theoretical sessions are complemented by several external visits: to the Federal Foreign Office, the think tanks SWP and Megatrends Africa, Deutsche Welle, and a meeting with the South African Ambassador.
The programme concludes with an editorial pitch workshop in which participants will develop concrete story ideas, receive feedback from experienced journalists and prepare their work for publication on leading African media platforms.
