Africa’s media ecosystem is experiencing a profound shift as digital content creators and influencers increasingly shape how news is produced, distributed, and consumed. This transformation presents both opportunity and risk for credibility, public trust, and the economic sustainability of journalism on the continent.
Titled 'The Great Media Shift', this international roundtable will convene journalists, content creators, media executives, and industry partners to critically examine this evolving dynamic and identify practical pathways for collaboration rather than competition. The discussions will focus on key themes of; credibility and verification, media economics in the creator era, audience engagement and platform dynamics, skills and capacity building, newsroom–creator collaboration models, and media regulation and policy.
Hosted in Kigali, Rwanda, from 1–5 June 2026, the roundtable is convened by KAS Media Africa in partnership with the Fojo Media Institute, and will bring together participants from across the continent to contribute to a more credible, innovative, and resilient African media ecosystem.
