Future of Europe: Scottish and German Strategies and Interests - Foundation Office United Kingdom and Ireland
Seminar
Details
Later this May, voters across the EU will elect the next European Parliament for a five-year term. In the autumn, the new European Commission will be appointed, including the new Commission president, along with the new president of the European Council. Despite the disruptive internal and external environment, the EU must address its challenges, including democracy, populism, migration, climate change, industrial strategy and inequality, in a strategic and dynamic way. This discussion will consider Scottish, German and EU perspectives on the future of Europe, and the interests of Scotland and Germany in the EU’s future focus and direction. The event will follow the publication of SCER’s major report on the future of Europe and Scottish interests under its programme Scotland and Europe: Disruption, Continuity and Change. Join us on Europe Day as we reflect on the EU’s future in challenging times.
