Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Team Asien und Pazifik in cooperation with Handmade Productions Aotearoa was pleased to host a screening of Marimari, a documentary on sorcery accusation related violence (SARV) in Papua New Guinea last night.
Through the observational lens of Kiwi documentary filmmaker Paul Wolffram (Handmade Productions), the audience was taken deep into lushly forested landscapes to hear first-hand accounts from both survivors and perpetrators.
The screening was complemented by a conversation with the filmmaker Paul Wolffram and Miranda Forsyth from the The Australian National University, who provided the audience with further insights, including on legislative initiatives such as the repeal of the Sorcery Act (2013) and the introduction of the Glasman Act (2022).
