Religion and Secular State
Role and Meaning of Religion in a Secular Society from Muslim, Christian, and Jewish Perspectives.
The publication „Religion and Secular State. Role and Meaning of Religion in a Secular Society from Muslim, Christian, and Jewish Perspectives. Focus on South-East Europe“ is the result of an international symposium held from 21 Oct- 24 Oct 2007 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the Foundation Konrad Adenauer, the Interreligious Institute in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the European Abrahamic forum. This publication contains the point of view of about 50 professionals from different religious and national backgrounds as presented on the symposium on theoretical as well as practical experiences concerning on one hand the aspects of law, politics and states and on the other hand aspects of religion's role in today's society, the return of religion in public spheres and diaspora. In addition to these presentations there are two studies, one dealing with different models of separation of state and religion and the other dealing with the situation in modern Turkey.
