During a four day study trip the ten participants learned a lot about the situation of refugees in Lebanon when visiting Sabra and Shatila, a Kurdish and Syrian Refugee Camp in Nabaa and an informal tented settlement in Jebjennine. In addition, they attended a briefing at the UNHCR Sub-Office in Zahle. Through these activities the young journalists got an insight into the challenges refugees face in their daily lives.

The German journalists were accompanied by their Lebanese counterparts allowing them to get a first hand introduction to the local set of problems. They had the opportunity to broaden their horizon in an interactive workshop sharing their experiences and exploring various case studies. Key topics discussed were the rights and the protection of journalists. The junior journalists attended a round table with the youth from all Lebanese political parties as well and exchanged views on the amelioration of youth participation in the political life.
