MiDAS-KAS Conference 2022: Regional Terrorism and Violent Extremism Challenges
Renowned experts and officials will share insights and exchange information and ideas on the region's current terrorism and violent extremism threats.
Amidst the pandemic, superpowers competition and the political situation in Europe, terrorism remains a thorny issue and still requires serious attention. While trends on radicalisation, terrorist operations, and attacks from previous years seem to continue, reports have shown that terrorists are taking advantage of the pandemic. In addition, analysts argued that the recent development in Afghanistan has repercussions on counter-terrorism. Equally important, we need to anticipate future possible terrorist threats in terms of the rise of far-right extremism, bioterrorism and enhancing cybersecurity from being exploited by the terrorist. This conference will be a platform for policymakers, academicians, and researchers to share insights and exchange information and ideas on the region's current terrorism and violent extremism threats. The topics to be discussed shall range from recent trends of terrorism, its impact on both regions, preventing and countering violent extremism challenges and the future threats of terrorism. The mode of the conference will be hybrid. The co-organisers will identify a suitable venue. Participants may attend the conference physically or through online platforms. The speakers will be able to do their presentations via online video conferencing.
