KAS Media Programme Sub‑Saharan Africa is excited to participate in GlobalFact 2026, the world’s largest and most influential gathering of fact‑checking organisations, journalists, and information‑integrity experts. The summit will take place from 17–19 June 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania, bringing together more than 500 participants from over 80 countries.
Organised by the International Fact‑Checking Network (IFCN) at Poynter, and co‑hosted with leading regional partners, GlobalFact provides a crucial platform to address the most pressing challenges in the information ecosystem. This year’s programme focuses on the defining issues shaping truth‑seeking in the digital age, including:
- How fact‑checkers can work with AI tools while guarding against AI‑driven deception
- The financial sustainability of fact‑checking without compromising editorial independence
- Reaching audiences who increasingly consume news via algorithms, chatbots, and social platforms
KAS Media Africa will support the participation of a group of African fact-checkers, journalists, and media experts. Through our participation, we aim to strengthen ties between African and international fact‑checking networks, support capacity building, and bring African perspectives into global debates on information integrity, media resilience, and AI‑driven information disorder.
