THE ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN EU AND NATO INTEGRATION PROCESSES

Panel Discussion

On the September 20th Foundation Konrad Adenauer and Institut for Democracy "Societas Civilis" organized panel discussion "The Role of Civil Sociaty in EU and NATO integration processes" attended by Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, Minister of Defence of Germany and Mrs. Radmila Shekerinska, Minister of Defence of Macedonia.

On the event speeches were given by Mr. Johannes D.Rey, official representative of KAS in Macedonia, German ambassador in Macedonia H.E. Thomas Gerberich, then Zoran Necher, senior researched and head of the Center of EU Integration within IDSCS and Emina Nuredinovska, head of the Civil Society Department in the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation.

During the event the discussion paper “Macedonia’s model of inclusion of CSOs in the accession negotiations” by the author Ivan Nikolovski from IDSCS within the framework of the “Perform to Reform” project supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation was presented.

Key points of discussions were based around the model of negotiations with the EU that Macedonia might use, the role of the Civil Society Organizations in helping with EU negotiations and the experience that Macedonia can draw upon from the other neighbouring countries that already started negotiations with the EU.
